Yala National Park is one of viewing a diverse array of wildlife which is situated in the south-east region of Sri Lanka and is the 2nd largest National Park in the island. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900.Its diversity of bird, mammal and reptile life is unrivalled in the country and there are particularly high densities of its two basis species are elephants and leopards.Yala National Park has a variety of ecosystems including moist monsoon forests, dry monsoon forests, semi deciduous forests, thorn forests, grasslands, marshes, marine wetlands.
