Udawalawe National Park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. It is second in popularity only to the Yala National Park and attracts many visitors every year. Udawalawe is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the country. The Udawalawe National Park can be visited throughout the year.
The Park is also home to Spotted Deer, Monitor Lizards, Sambar Deer, Wild Boar, the common Langur, Jackal, Toddy Cat and the endemic Toque Macaque.The endemic Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Brown-capped Babbler, Malabar pied Hornbill and the Sri Lankan Spurfowl are of particular importance to birders. Park is also home to Mugger Crocodiles, Oriental Garden Lizards, Water Monitors and Bengal Monitors.
