Sinharaja is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka which has an amazing variety of flora and fauna, and attention of tourist as well as nature lovers who make excursions into the forest to explore many natural wonders. It is one of biologically unique lowland rain forests in Sri Lanka.
It is rich in bird life with an impressive 147 species recorded to date. The flora of Sinharaja displays a high degree of endemism.The rare birds are the Red-faced Malkoha, the Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, the Ashy-headed Babbler and the White-headed Starling.
